Choosing Water Leak Sensors for a Devicebook Smart Home

Water damage is expensive. For clients who are not always in their home, a water leak detection system is well worth the cost. Water Leak Sensors are typically installed at the following locations:

  • On the floor next to a toilet (to detect leaks, overflow or sewage backup)
  • On the floor next to a water heater (water heaters tend to leak when they reach the end of their manufacturer-intended lifespan).
  • Underneath sinks, to detect leaking pipes.

For the best wireless reception, choose models with a wired sensor, as depicted in the following diagram. The sensor can be placed in the optimal position for water sensing, while the wireless communicator can be placed in a good location for wireless communication.
