Set Up Automations

Renaming Devices and Rooms

Device and room names are used in voice commands, notifications, and more.

Renaming a Device

1. In the Devicebook App, visit House Check.

2. In House Check, navigate to the room that contains the device you want to rename.

3. Press the (...) button next to the name of the device you want to rename.

4. Select the option to rename the device.

Renaming a room

1. In the Devicebook App, visit the page of any smart home solution that uses rooms. (Lighting, Window Shades)

2. Press the (...) icon next to the name of the room you want to rename.

3. Select the option to rename the room.

Choose Trusted Emergency Responders

Your Emergency Responders are people you trust who should be contacted when Devicebook detects an emergency in your home, or when you request assistance. For example, you can add friends, family, or neighbors.

Set Up Additional Wall Pads

A Wall Pad is an optional touchpad screen set-up in your home that acts as an always-available control center for your home. It's always on, so you can monitor and control your smart home without pulling out your phone.

Your smart home contractor may have set up a Wall Pad for you as part of your smart home design, but you can easily set up more.

What Can a Wall Pad Do?

A Wall Pad can do everything your phone's Devicebook App can do, and more. You can control and monitor your smart home, but also get voice announcements about events in your home. You can customize the events that cause voice announcements from the Notifications Settings page.

Where do I get a Wall Pad?

Any iOS or Android device that can run the Devicebook App can be a Wall Pad, but for the best experience, we recommend a modern tablet, such as recent models of Apple's iPad, or Samsung's Galaxy Tab.

How Many Wall Pads Can my Smart Home Have?

Your Devicebook Smart Home can have as many Wall Pads as you need. You can choose to install one in every room and hallway, or just one in the most useful area of your home.

Wall Pad Physical Installation

Wall Pads can be mounted anywhere in your home. Since your Wall Pad will always be turned on, it should always be plugged in to a charger.

Your Wall Pad does not need to be mounted -- you could place it on a side table or coffee table, or wherever else is convenient for you. Just make sure to keep it charged.

Enabling Wall Pad Mode

1. In the Devicebook App for your iOS or Android device, navigate to the "More" tab.

2. Find and tap on the option to "Use this Device as a Wall Pad". Follow the instructions on the page to enable Wall Pad mode on your device. The instructions vary slightly between Android and iOS.


Disabling Wall Pad Mode - iOS

If your iOS device has a Home Button:

1. Triple-Tap the home button on your device.

2. Enter your iPad's Guided Access password.


If your iOS device does not have a Home Button:

1. Triple-Tap the power button on your device.

2. Enter your devices' Guided Access password.
